Charles Mayeaux, 66, died at 8 a.m. today in a hospital here. He had worked for the City of Alexandria engineering department for 45 years before he retired.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Bordelon Mayeaux; two daughters, Mrs. Dean Gilmore and Mrs. Roger Bordelon; both of Alexandria; a brother, Robert Mayeaux of Homewood, Ala.; two sisters, Mrs. Leona Leckie of New Orleans and Mrs. Ivy McCann of Alexandria and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic church. Burial will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens. Rosary will be recited at 8:00 tonight in the chapel of John Kramer and Son chapel.
