Gordon W. Schultze was born
Feb. 22, 1920. in Plainview, Neb.,
to William and Rosa (Butterfield)
Schultze. He was baptized and
confirmed in the Zion Lutheran
Church, Plainview. He graduated
from Osmond High School in
1937.
He was inducted into the U.S.
Army Oct. 15, 1941, at Fort
Crooke, Neb. He fought in the
Rhineland in central Europe and
received numerous medals and
ribbons before receiving an
honorable discharge Jan. 1, 1946, at
Fort Sheridan, Ill.
Oct. 3, 1946, he married Aileen
Gustafson, Wausa, Neb., in
Jackson, Minn. They had one son,
Howard.
After his marriage, he moved
with his wife to Denver, Colo. In
1948, they moved to Lakeside,
where he was employed at the
Hygrade Packing Plant for 32 years,
of which 25 were as supervisor.
He was mayor of Lakeside for
eight years and a manager of Storm
Lake Little League baseball for 15
years. He was a life member of the
VFW.
He is preceded in death by his
parents; one brother — Wayne; and
one sister — Doris.
