John Rhoades son of Jeriah Rhoades and Rebecca Lewis. John was born in Marlboro,Ulster County,New York, his father a native of Providence, Rhode Island, his mother from Falmouth, Barnstable, Massachusetts. John married Sarah Lyon the year 1785. Their children were Zadoc,Cornelius,John,Hannah and William. I descend through William Rhoades and Clarissa Woolsey (my 3rd great grandparents) their son Richard Steven Rhoades married Hester Marie Palmatier. Richard and Hester were my 2nd great grandparents. Richard and Hester's son Charles Wayne Rhoades married Mary Catherine Jones, my great grandparents. Charles and Mary's son Emery Harold Rhoades married Rosa Bell Hall in Devon,Bourbon County,Kansas, they are my grandparents. Vera Maude Rhoades, their daughter, my mother married Chandos Marion Mann.
I ask my grandfather Emery once, why Rhoades was spelled so may ways, he told me he did not know, because it was Rhoades in his family for many generations back as he could remember. And that is witnessed through the Rhoades Family Bible. First entry was Jeriah Rhoades.
