Lieutenant Junior Grade (Lt. j.g.), United States Navy, World War Two. While serving as a Naval Aviator Assigned to Scouting Squadron Thirty Six (VS-36) he perished in crash of a Douglas SBD Dauntless dive-bomber while conducting a test flight off the coast of Cape May, New Jersey. Also lost in this incident was Ensign (Ens.) Arthur R. Buegel, USNR.
