Rita M. Adams, daughter of the Priscilla O. Smith and Lloyd M. Smith, Sr., was born July 15, 1985.
Rita was educated in the public schools of Westmoreland and was baptized at Salem Baptist Church as a young woman.
Rita was a strong fighting woman, who courageously battled Lupus for eight years, and was an inspiration to her son, fiancé, parents, siblings and friends. Anyone who knew Rita could attest to her fighting spirit. She always had advice and time for anyone in need. She may have been sick and of poor health, but Rita had a big beautiful heart. She would inspire anyone, including her enemy.
On Monday, August 19, 2013, Rita began her journey anew. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Shirley Coleman and Daniel Smith.
Rita leaves cherished memories with her son, Allen Jerome Thompson, Jr., her fiancé, Allen Jerome Thompson, Sr.; her mother, Priscilla Smith; her father, Lloyd M. Smith; an adopted mother, Nicole Rich; her grandmother, Joyce Smith; great grandmother, Margaret Johnson; siblings: Lloyd M. Smith, Jr., Melanie Blue, Sonya Blue, Ifrain Smith, Daniel Smith and Kemonta Johnson; aunt, Tammy Adams; uncles: Johnny Adams, Charles Johnson, Howard Martin, Reverend Tyree Smith, Reverend Linwood Smith and Reverend Daniel Smith.
She also leaves many to mourn many other relatives and friends; several special friends: Corene A. Jones and Nadine Williams and too many more to name.
Interment services were held at the church cemetery where family and friends served as both pall and floral bearers.
