Mr Anderson resigned his commission in the Navy, 1869.

He is a lawyer by profession. Was Governor of Maine from 1844 to 1847; Commissioner of Customs in Washington, from 1853 to 1858; and for several years has been Sixth Auditor of the Treasury Department at Washington, D.C.
