A Lino Lakes police officer setting out Stop Sticks was struck and killed by a South Dakota fugitive fleeing police in a stolen car at speeds up to 100 mph along Interstate 35W. He will be missed.

Steven Stanke received 40 years in state prison for killing officer Shawn Silvera, a married father of two who was trying to stop Stanke on Sept. 6, 2005. He also was sentenced to an additional year and nine months for injuring another man whom he crashed into with the stolen car he was driving while high on methamphetamine.
