Louise Antonie Urbanek, 95, died on September 10, 2013 at the Goshen Care Center.
Louise was born on December 16, 1917 in Bee, Nebraska the daughter and oldest of 10 children of Louis and Antonie (Pavlica) Zavorka, Sr. (Immigrants from Czechoslovakia). She received her early schooling in Nebraska; graduating from the 8th grade at Valparaiso, Nebraska. When Louise was 15 she moved with her parents to Wyoming. She married George F. Urbanek on November 23, 1938, whom she had met at a dance. Louise broke horses, did farm work; hauling beans and beets, picking corn, and harvesting potatoes. Louise also worked at the corn and tomato cannery in Torrington; along with cleaning houses. She spent 16 years at Wards Hatchery, 8 years at the Golden West Dairy cheese factory; and retired in 1981 after over 18 years at Holly Sugar Factory. Louise also returned to Omaha, Nebraska during her working years and worked at the Omaha Brewing & Blue Barrel soap factory.
Following retirement, Louise was active with St. Rose CCW; the Hawk Springs Womens Club, and she helped with the Care & Share Program. She enjoyed dances, especially polkas; and she liked her many flowers, gardens, and animals. She was a member of the Nebraska Panhandle Czech organization and she loved her Czech heritage.
She is survived by her daughter Theresa (Bob) Madsen of Wheatland, WY.; three sons, Paul Urbanek of Torrington, WY.; George (Sandy) Urbanek, Jr of Cheyenne, WY.; and Leo (Rita) Urbanek of Lander, WY.; two sisters, Mary Rutar of Pender, NE.; and Annie Votova of Lenox, IA.; three brothers, Frank Zavorka of Cheyenne, WY.; Joe (Marge) Zavorka and Charlie (Dorothy) Zavorka all of Torrinngton, WY.; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, three brothers, Wencel and Louis, and infant brother, Joe, and one sister Antonie ‘Toni' Donbraska.
