Lawrence D. Shacklett, 64, Rapid City, died Nov. 4, 1997, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
He was born Dec. 8, 1932, at Durango, Colo., the son of David and Lulah (Peterson) Shacklett. He graduated from Rapid City High School in 1950. He was a resident of Rapid City most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 until 1954. He was married to Joyce (Lee) Shacklett on Feb. 16, 1979, at Fort Meade, S.D.
He worked at Metz Bakery, Gillette Dairy, and Pacific Fruit and Produce, all in Rapid City. He retired in 1977 while manager at Pacific Fruit and Produce.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Joyce, Rapid City; three sons, Rex Shacklett, Fletcher, Ohio, and Ricky Shacklett, and Russell Shacklett, both of Rapid City; four stepchildren, Joy Lehnert and Dan Lee, both of Rapid City, James Lee, Golden, Cola, and Mike Lee, Billings, Mont.; one sister, Dorothy Crowley, Huntsville, Ala.; 10 grandchildren, Lacee, Janie, Jennifer, Dillon, Rebekah, Katie, Michael, Tessa, Beth and Benjamin; and one great-grandchild, Benjamin.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randall Shacklett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Behrens Mortuary. Visitation will be from noon until 8 p.m. today and two hours before the service on Friday. Rev. Jerry Tufte of Spearfish will officiate. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with military honors provided by the Sturgis Honor Guard.
