Mark Randolph Alvig, 57, of Chaska, finished his courageous cancer battle on September 10, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at home. Mark was born on February 23, 1956 in Willmar, MN, to Norma Jean (Bishop) Alvig and Gerald Alvig. He grew up in rural Minnesota, graduating in 1974 from New Ulm Public High School, and then earned his Bachelor's degree from Mankato State University, with concentrations in insurance, finance and business.

Mark was an estate planner and published author, whose career spanned over 30 years. He held positions in several regional and national firms, and formed his own business entities. His mission was helping successful farm families preserve and transfer their assets to succeeding generations.

Mark Alvig was a family man, the truest of friends, and his passion for the outdoors was legendary. His experiences, accomplishments, and the ways he impacted people cannot be summarized. Everyone who knows him has stories of his laughter, his loyalty, his creative brilliance, and his incredible knot-tying skills. Our hearts rejoice in memory.

Mark is survived by his loving wife and their wonderful children.
