Thelma Lorene (Derrick) Davis, age 84 of Austin, Texas, passed away late Friday evening, the 11th of October, 2013 while under the care of the wonderful staff at St. David's South Austin Hospital. She passed with the same dignity and determination that were the hallmarks of her life. This loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother will be missed by many.

Thelma Davis was a high school graduate of Longdale, Oklahoma. She and her husband, Roy Merl Davis, raised two sons while she worked in various retail organizations, including many years with K-Mart. On his passing in 1998, she assumed Roy's role as a managing officer for the High Valley Water Corp. until her final professional retirement several years ago. Her number one passion in life was her immediate and extended family.

Thelma, daughter of Joseph and Flora (Dixon) Derrick, was born in Chester, Oklahoma on August 10, 1929. She was one of seven children: Jim, Asa, Ruth, Jeff, John, Glenn, and Thelma. Thelma is survived by her brother Glenn, a resident of Coalgate, Oklahoma; two sons, Donald Roy Davis (Deborah), San Antonio, Texas and Merl Dean Davis, Austin, Texas; four grandchildren: Dawn (Rick) Grant, Karissa (Allon) Kapeller, Daniel Davis, and Lucas Davis; four great-grandchildren: Jacob Davis, Elena Grant, Haydn Kapeller and Charles Grant. In addition, she is survived by her constant companion, Wayne Roberts.

Thelma's family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, located at 6300 W. William Cannon Drive.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks with Reverend Don Long to officiate. Interment will follow the service at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
