Benjamin F. Newman, 91, of Alhambra died Tuesday afternoon in St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland.
He was born March 12, 1884, in Pearl, Ill., son of the late Edward and Amanda Grover Newman.
He married Lottie Smith March 9, 1912, in Terra Haute, Ind. She died in 1959.
Mr. Newman is survived by sons Ben Newman of Alhambra, Frank Newman of Savanna, Ill., daughters Mrs. Mary Hemphill of Alton, Mrs. Marie Utt of Roodhouse, Mrs. Gladys McWilliams of Kansas City, Kans., eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a sister Mrs. Mable Yoder of Anaheim, Calif.
Friends may call between 4 and 9 p.m. Thursday at the Dauderman Funeral Home in Alhambra with the Rev. Arnold Bizer, pastor of the Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, officiating.
Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Alhambra.
