Gene worked in various shoe factories and at Crowe Rope. He enjoyed playing horse shoes, bowling, and playing a good poker game.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Mary; a daughter, Donna; and his three brothers.
Gene is survived by his sister-in-law, Phyllis Bowman, of Monmouth, with whom he shared a home; two children, his son, Butch Bowman, of Gardiner, and his daughter, Cindy Bowman, of Farmingdale; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Dresden, beside his wife, Mary. (Kennebec Journal 9/17/2013 & Staples Funeral Home)
