Friends in this section were sorry to learn of the death of Mr. Edward (Dock) Adkins, 74, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kincaid, Illinois, where he had been a patient for three weeks.
He was a native of this section of Hancock County, the son of the late John and Emma Lyons Adkins, but had lived in St. Louis for a number of years, where he operated an appliance store, moving to Kincaid three years ago. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Hammer Adkins, two sons, Russell of St. Charles, Mo., and Edward Jr., of Godfrey, Ill., two daughters, Mrs. Emma Jean Terneus and Mrs. Barbara Lubinski, both of Florissant, Mo., three brothers, Pat Adkins, South Pekin, Ill., Ted Adkins, Louisville, Dave Adkins, Hawesville; six sisters, Mrs. Martha Morris, Hawesville, Mrs. Eva Becker, Myrtle Belle Newton, Viola Drinkler, Gona Arington, and Zella Parchin, all of Louisville. His family from Kentucky all attended the funeral except Mrs. Becker and Mrs. Morris, who were not able to attend. Funeral services were conducted from the Masterson and McManus Funeral Chapel at Kincaid, with the Reverends Fines and Ester Main officiating. Burial was in Auburn Cemetery. Sympathy is extended to the family.
