Virginia Beutler Carter, 79, of Kimberly, completed her mortal life and passed on to immortality, Monday, September 16, 2013, with her husband at her side, after many years of illness.
She was the fourth of eight children born to Walter and Loverill Kemp Beutler. She was born in Dayton, Idaho on August 9, 1934. She grew up on the family farm in Dayton and attended West Side High School and later Utah State University. She eventually completed her university studies at the College of Southern Idaho, graduating with an associate degree in Art.
Virginia married David LaVere Carter on June 1, 1953 in the Logan Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They lived in Logan, Utah and then Corvallis, Oregon while David completed graduate studies. Later they lived in Weslaco, Texas and Twin Falls, Idaho.
In 1966, Virginia moved with her family to Kimberly, Idaho where David and Virginia still reside. Virginia raised three sons, Dr. Allen Carter of Afton, Wyoming, Roger (Judy) Carter of Roberts, Idaho, and Brent (Chris) Carter of Arlington, Texas.
Virginia held many ward and stake positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as did her husband. She always loved to teach the gospel, especially to children and youth. Family life centered around church activities and she had tremendous faith in Jesus Christ. The family also enjoyed gardening and activities in the great outdoors.
Virginia was always an accomplished seamstress and helped support her family with custom sewing while David was in college. She also tied fishing flies and assembled fishing lures to earn extra money during this period. Her children and grandchildren continued to benefit from her skill as a seamstress with numerous custom made clothes as they grew up.
Virginia was an accomplished artist and took great joy in creating beautiful artwork. She used oil paints, water colors, acrylics, did some sculpture, and even used her sewing skills to create pieces. Her first love was making handmade paper and using it to create artistic pieces. She developed several new and unique methods for using handmade paper in artistic expression, creating handmade papers from about fifty different plants. In some cases, she combined her paper with her painting, sewing, and sculpture techniques. One of her pieces was displayed as part of an international exhibit that toured Europe and Asia for two years.
Virginia is survived by her husband, David, her three sons, her siblings Blanche Alder, Laurn (Marilyn) Beutler, Hazel Spackman, Ethel (Kay) Andersen, Henry (Colleen) Beutler, Sheldon (Patsy) Beutler, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2013 at the LDS Kimberly Idaho Stake Center located at 3857 N 3500 E, Kimberly, ID with a visitation on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park" 136 4th Ave E., Twin Falls and at 10:00–10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park.
