Irvin was born the only child to Mary Ann & Irvin Hawthorne, Sr. in Chicago.

Irvin was baptized and confirmed as a Catholic at St. Ethelreda Catholic Church. He attended St. Ethelreda Grammar School and graduated from Hales Franciscan Catholic High School. Irvin went on to continue his education at Tougaloo University in Jackson, Mississippi.

Upon his return to Chicago, Irvin started his career with the Illinois Department of Children's Home Aid Society. He went on to continue his career with the Chicago Department of Public Health in the capacity of Communicable Disease Control Investigator II ~ (CDCI II).

Irvin leaves to cheerish his memory: his devoted and loving mother ~ Mary Ann Hawthorne; his father ~ Irvin P. Hawthorne, Sr; one step sister ~ Stephanie Thomas; one step brother ~ Robert Thomas and a list of other relatives.

I worked with Irvin at the Department of Public Health and had the pleasure of starting in the beggining with him. Let's just say he made training fun. "Yeahhhh" so he would say. Irvin was killed at the hands of coward and we all hope that one day justice will prevail for the untimely death of a guy who added to society in a positive way. We will miss you my friend, this memorial is dedicated to his memory. A few days shy of his 29th birthday, this death was senseless.

Thanks to "Anton" for taking the photo of Irv's Headstone. Can't thank you enough.
