Moody's Company, Mississippi Volunteers. He was appointed Sergeant Major on July 26, 1861, and promoted to 3rd Lieutenant on October 16, 1861, and 2nd Lieutenant of February 13, 1862. Lt. William H. Brown was killed at Malvern Hill on July 1, 1862. Place of burial unknown.
George W. Brown, father of William H. Brown, filed a claim for settlement, stating his son left neither wife nor child.
