Chistiana/Christana Lawley was born to John Joseph Lawley (1750-1832) & Mary VonCannon (1760-1852) on 17 May 1795 in Jefferson County, Alabama (actually was Creek Territory aka Blount county in 1818 aka Jefferson county by 1819). She was my 3rd great grandmother.

Christana Lawley married James H West on 24 March 1819 in Jefferson County, Alabama and had at least 6 known children born of their marriage before she died 26 July 1846. They lived in Clinton area near Eutaw.

In 1850 Census (Greene County, AL) James H West (widower) was listed with the unmarried children that were still at home with him (Harriet had married; Peter had moved to Tusculoosa county, Alabama living with a BEALL family listed as a farmer, living near his deceased wife's mother Mary VonCannon-West and other Coker and Lawley family members); James H West was listed as a Cumberland Presbyterian Minister in this 1850 census(so assume it may have been Pleasant Hill Cumberland Church, since this is the cemetery where his wife was buried in 1846).

We have not located the burial date or location of James H West(as of 19 Sept 2013). We last find him in 1850 Census (widower) and by 1860 census his unmarried daughter was living with the Loftis family and we do not find any records of James H West after 1850 (except one civil war record which may be a son verus him)

James H West & Christana Lawley-West were my 3rd great grandparents and would dearly love to find the burial location of James H West (who died sometime after 1850 census).

Known Children:

1) Harriet Jane West-Gandy (1820-1867)who married John Henderson Gandy on 07 Feb 1843 in Green County, Alabama who was buried Row 15-39 near her spouse and her mother Christana Lawley-West. (Harriet was a 2nd marriage for John Henderson Gandy- his 1st wife was Elizabeth "Betsy" Holland).

2) Peter Lawley West (1825-1873) who married Virena Clementine Gill on 18 Oct 1851 in Clinton, Winston County, Mississippi. (my 2nd great grandparents). Peter is buried in Snake Creek Cemetery (near Needville)which is on his homestead in Ft Bend County, Texas where he had a cemetery and church (church was destroyed after a hurricane, but cemetery is still standing and is a Texas Historic Landmark).

Note: Peter L West was found living near the Lawley family in the 1850 Coker, Tuscaloosa county, AL census - so we assume sometime shortly after the 1850 census, Peter relocated to Mississippi where he married Virena Clementine Gill in 1851 and then by 1854 were living in Ft Bend County, Texas. It is possible his father, James H West may have left for MS also, as we cannot find James (his father) after the 1850 census either.

3) John C West (1828-abt 1863?) who married Lenora Ann "Polly" Loftis.

4) Mary E West (1830-1842) who died at age 11 and is buried in row 15-35 next to her mom Christana Lawley-West who is buried in row 15-34.

5) Malurian West (abt 1833-aft 1850) last found in 1850 Census living with her widowed father. It appears she either married before 1860 census and or was deceased before 1860, as we do not find any marriage or death record (so unsure).

6) Lucinda Louisa West (abt 1837- AFT 1860 ???) last found in 1860 census living with Lenora Ann (Polly) Loftis family - we assume that her father James H West was either deceased or possibly in the civil war (as we have found a James H West who served in the Confederate Company B, 40th Alabama Regiment, who was taken Prisoner in Vicksburg, Mississippi - he would have been quite old to have been in the civil war unless perhaps he was serving as a minister) or possibly this Civil War James H West was a son of James H. West & Christana Lawley-West that we do not yet have located or documented.
