Amos D. Blanchard, son of the late David and Ann Blanchard of North Franklin, Delaware county; died March 25th, at the home of his son, T. E. Blanchard, in Cooperstown. Mr. Blanchard was born December l8th 1837 at North Franklin. After receiving his education at Delaware Literary Institute, he taught school in Indiana until the outbreak of the Civil War when he was among the first to answer the President's call. At the close of the war. he came north, married Miss Helen M. Wickham of Franklin, and returned South, settling in Arkansas. During a part of the eight years there, he served as judge of Woodruff county. He
later went to Oneonta, where he resided until March 11th, last year, when he came to Cooperstown to reside with his son. Mrs. Blanchard died March 20, 1920. Sfr. Blanchard's father was a soldier in the Anti-Rent War of Delaware county; he as stated, fought in the Civil War; the son above mentioned honed served in the Spanish-American War; and his grandson, Adrian G. Blanchard, served in the World War, making four generations to follow the country's flag in time of war. He was a member of E. D. Farmer Post, G.A.R. Mr Blanchard leaves four children: Mrs. Blanche Barry of Binghamton; T. E. Blanchard of Cooperstown; P.
L. Blanchard of Lynn Haven, Florida, and Miss Maida Blanchard, who had been assisting in the care of her father this winter. There are eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. The funeral was held from the undertaking parlors of H.A. Lewis in Oneonta, Wednesday. Rev. Pendleton officiated and interment was made at the Oneonta Plains cemetery. Mr. Blanchard was a man of fine attainments, a good neighbor, friend, citizen and loyal soldier.
