Long-time resident of Eugene, Walter also lived in California and Alaska. He is an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict in the 50's. He was transferred to Alaska in the last part of his service, and left the Army with an honorable discharge. He graduated in 1958 from the U of O as a geologist. He worked for the Corps of Engineers in Los Angeles, California, and later owned his own businesses, White Water Well Drilling and B.J. Well Drilling. He was a member of the Order of Eagles.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Madrene, four children and six step-children, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be Monday, September 23, starting at 9:30 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 am, both at Farnstrom Mortuary, 410 Monmouth Street, Independence, OR.
