Hernando - RUTH SCHERF WADSWORTH, 97, was called home to her Heavenly Father on November 1, 2010. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, at Hernando Funeral Home. Funeral Services 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, at Hernando United Methodist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She demonstrated a true example of Christ-like love, having cared for her parents Reverend Paul and Adele Scherf; her in-laws, Reverend Lawton and Eddie Mae Wadsworth and her dear husband, Dr. Henry Manley Wadsworth during their last days on this earth. She directed her concern to many others, having served as a registered nurse working alongside her husband until his death in 1983. After the death of her husband, she continued her nursing work with her son until age 79. She was known for her dedication and commitment to her entire family and the community. She will be remembered for her kindness, her loving and giving spirit and the joy she generated to others.
She leaves many happy memories and a grand legacy to be cherished by those she left behind: her son, Dr. Henry M. Wadsworth, Jr. (Myrtis) and her daughters, Adele “Deedee” Couch (Jerry) and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Peek (Sidney) nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Margaret Zibilich and Esther Lehnhardt.
