Sarah Candace Stokes, born 1849, was the second eldest child and eldest daughter of William Arthur Stokes and his first wife, Elizabeth F. Skipper. (See Bibb County, Georgia in Eighth Census of the United States, NARA Microfilm Publications, Series M-653, Roll 111, page 646, Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration).

On November 1, 1866, Sarah Stokes married James Early Jackson, a Confederate veteran born in Coweta County, Georgia. (See Bibb County, Georgia, Marriages, (White), Book D (1865 - 1869), page 142; John Mitchell, J.P., Officiant; Bibb County Probate Court, Macon, Georgia).

Sarah died in the Spring of 1886 shortly after the birth of her sixth child, Anna Nora Jackson (1886-1891).
