Mr. B. D. Jones, age 93 of Crockett, formerly of Dickinson and Lovelady, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at his residence in Crockett. Mr. Jones was born April 18, 1909 in Lovelady and had been living in Crockett for the past year, previously living in Dickinson. Mr. Jones was a survivor of the 1947 Texas City Explosion that killed over 6,000 people. Mr. Jones was a retired maintenance superintendent for Monsanto Chemical Company and he was a member of the First United Methodist Church-Lovelady.
Survivors include his wife Pearl Jones, of Crockett; daughter Faye Cartwright, of Dickinson; grandchildren Steven Strom, Michael Cox, James Cox, Gregg Cartwright; great-grandson Zack Cartwright; step-daughter Tina Higginbortham, and Tammy Higginbotham; step-sons Joe David Klores, and Jimmy Dee Klores; brother C. L. "Doc" Jones; sisters Rupie Johnson, Lillie Gates.
Preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lucille Jones; wife Pauline Jones; son Carl D. Jones; daughter Bernice Cox; son-in-law Zack Cartwright.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. B. D. Jones were held Friday, May 10, at 1:00 p.m. in the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston with the Rev. Doug Howell officiating. Interment followed. Callaway-Allee Funeral Home
