John Gilbert Hasak 75, of Cape Coral passed away after a lengthy and courageous battle with a terminal illness. He passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side. He was very proud to be from Pittsburgh and was an ardent Pittsburgh Steelers fan. John proudly served 3 years in the Army, John retired from Verizon (formerly GTE) after 26 years. He also retired from Lee County Government after 10 years of service. He was a life time member of the Communication Workers of America (CWA) and a proud union member every working day of his professional life. The highlight of his career was to provide telephone services to President Herbert Walker Bush. The first occasion was as Vice-President for a commencement speech at Texas A & M University and the second occasion was the President for a commencement speech at Texas A & M University. He was an avid bowler and fisherman. His attributes include always putting his family and friends before himself. He was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Silvia, of 30 years. Sons Michael and John Hasak and fiance Jacklyn Sweeney, daughter Millie Prindle and son in law David and two grand daughters, Adriana and Alexandria Prindle. Sister Dolores Ruffing and spouse Paul and five nieces and nephews and life long friends Bill Brown, Helen and Bob Brabon, Rudy and Zulema Garcia, Irene Giniat, William J. (Steve) Stevenson and by his family of co-workers at Lee County Elections and his spouses family of co-workers at the Lee County Department of Human Services.

John was pre deceased by his parents, John Stephen Hassick and Theresa Hassick and sister Florence Oligher, life long friends, John Wilson, Bob Brumbaugh, Thurman Block.
