d/o John and Josephine (Hopkins) Hemingway; w/o Charles M Herrick whom she married Jan 4, 1896.

She has been a resident of Norway, ME for the past 49 years coming here from Locke Mills, ME.

During the last 1800 she was employed at the hotel in Locke Mills, ME.

She is survived by a daughter Mrs Lester D Bryant of Bryant Pond, ME; a brother John H Bryant Pond, ME.

She is predeceased by her husband Charles who died in 1939; a son Merton A Herrick died in 1955.

Josephine F. Hopkins of Milton, ME. The quickest way to verify this is to go to the 1880 census of Milton where Maud is listed, age 2, and her parents are named. The family is indexed there as "Hememway" however. The obituary agrees with me that Maud's mother was Josephine Hopkins. You can search for John A. Hemingway and find lots of listings of John and Josephine as a couple in Milton, with various life events of their children. John Hemingway's father (Maud's grandfather) was named William, which may account for the mix-up. My guess is that the obituary info was provided by Maud's dau. Elsie, who never knew her grandfather (he died when she was 2).
