Garland T. Beacham Jr. KITTY HAWK
Garland Thomas "Tommie" Beacham Jr., 53, of the 3800 block of Moore Shore Road, died July 19, 2005, at Albemarle Hospital. Tommie was born Oct. 21, 1951, to the late Garland and Jean Perry Beacham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Beacham; his grandparents, Walter and Ruby Perry; a daughter, Fritzie Beacham; and a son, Conley Thomas Beacham. He is survived by one brother, Ronnie Beacham and wife Cherie of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; a son, Ashley Beacham and wife Ashley of Elizabeth City, N.C.; three daughters, Amber Romm of Coinjock, N.C., and Sarah and Jessie Beacham, both of Kitty Hawk; and a grandson, Miles Beacham of Elizabeth City. Tommie was not just a local on the beach, he was a ninth generation native of Kitty Hawk. Tommie loved the Outer Banks and the history behind it because it was his heritage. He was a retired captain who loved the water and the wildlife that surrounded the Outer Banks. His educational boat tours helped people see the beauty of his home land through his eyes. A place where hunting camps and nets being pulled by neighbors and friends was home. A place now that few could give a first place account of, but Tommie could. He was that young man at the hunting camp. Tommie was a member of Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church. He loved his Lord, his family, friends and most dearly his children. Tommie was our Dad, that made him most special. We will miss him always and forever, but we know he is in the arms of those loved ones that went before him. He is well and for that we are grateful. We love you Dad, Ashley, Amber, Sarah and Jessie. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Austin Cemetery, Kitty Hawk, by the Rev. Brad Bradshaw. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Twiford’s Colony Chapel, Manteo, and at other times at the residence of Amber Romm, 4302 Caratoke Highway, Coinjock.
