Harry V. Snell,76, 79 Gordon Courts , died Friday evening at E.J. Noble Hospital, Alexandria Bay, where he had been a patient for several days.
The funeral will be held at 2pm today at the Fox Funeral Home,Hammond, with Rev. Everett Prudhome, pastor of the Hammond Presbyterian Church, officating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammond.
Mr.Snell is survived by his wife, Anna Clayton; two sons, Robert of Ruther Glen, Va. and James of Piketon, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Walter(Pauline)Reed,Ruther Glen,Va.; 10 grandchildren; nine great grand children; six sisters, Mrs.Alberta Hutton,Alexandria Bay NY, Mrs. Hazel Brown,Morristown NY, Mrs.Laura Pierce,Ogdensburg NY, Mrs.Emma Burnham,Redwood NY, Mrs. Marjorie Sackett, Watertown NY and Mrs. Levita Hawn, Gouverneur NY, and several nieces, newphews and cousins.
A son, Virgil, died in 1982.
Born March 31, 1910 in Redwood, New York the son of William and Adeline Snell, he attended Redwood area schools.
Mr. Snell married was first married to Ruth Petrie on Jan.31,1927 in Ogdensburg. She died Dec. 31,1981 in Ruther Glen, Virginia. He married Anna Hunter in Sept. 1982 in Redwood.
Mr. Snell lived on the Calaboga Road , Hammond, from 1927 to 1976. He retired from the state department of transportation in 1976.
After his retirement, Mr. Snell and his wife Ruth moved to Virginia, returning to Alexandria Bay, New York in April of 1986.
