She was born August 31, 1922 in Idabel, Oklahoma to John and Wattie Dorris. She was a homemaker, co-owner of Jack and Jill Preschool, a volunteer at the Salvation Army, Kids of the King and the Foster Grandparents programs, a member of the De Queen Hospital Auxiliary and the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Singleton was preceded in death by her husband, J.P. Singleton in 1971, and her youngest child, Shirlee Tomasi in 1979.
She is survived by one son, Robert Singleton of De Queen; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Don Eckard of Bella Vista, Arkansas; a brother, Leo Dorris of Riverside, California; six grandchildren: Penny, Brawley of Lakeside, California, Rick Singleton of Ft. Worth, Texas, John O'Conner of De Queen, Angel Petet of Springdale, Arkansas, Stacy Alspaw of De Queen, and Amy Johnson of Albany, Oregon; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Singleton will be held at 3pm, Sunday, Jan 13, 2008, in the Redmen Cemetery with Rev. David Williams officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
