He came to America in 1880 looking for his sister Marie who had married a Schwartz. His brother Alfred was here too but he never found either.
He came to America with Andreas Kowalsky and Karl Lugen. They shantied together while working in the mine at Buchtel, OH. Karl went back to Germany.
