Billy was educated in the Covington County School System. During his middle school and high school years, playing the position of fullback, Billy became a great football player. This earned him a place on the "Wall of Fame" at Carver High in Collins, MS. Billy graduated with an expertise in welding.

Upon graduating from high school, Billy moved to Biloxi in 1966 and obtained employment with the Winn Dixie Grocery Store. He was employed with Winn Dixie for twenty years. Upon his retirement, he had worked at every Winn Dixie store on the Gulf Coast at that time, which included Ocean Springs, Moss Point, Pascagoula, and Gautier.

After a few years of retirement, he wanted to work again, so in 1986 he began working at the Jerry Lee's Grocery Store in Pascagoula. He served there as dairy manager. He retired for the second and last time in 2002.

During his retirement, he was able to enjoy his sports and games to the full extent. He loved hunting and playing pool. However, growing up near the Okatoma River and following behind his father, he developed a passion for FISHING. When he came to the coast, he had to learn where the "honey holes," to catch the fish, were located and adjust his fishing style to gulf fishing, but it wasn't long before he mastered it. Many people desired and went fishing with him. A number of cook out events had fish supplied from his fishing.

On Thursday, September 19, 2013, the Lord sent his angels around 8:30 P. M. to room 1098 at Singing River Hospital to bring his servant home to his permanent home.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James (Callie) Booth and Jack (Carrie) Smith; his parents, Joe (Rita) Booth; and his brothers, S D Booth and Joe Booth, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy, his faithful and devoted wife of over 46 years, Lorean Johnson Booth; his three daughters, Priscilla (Miguel) McNair, Francine (Rev. Frederick) Nicholson, and Alexis Booth; one son, Rev. Billy Raysell Booth all of Gautier, MS; future daughter-in-law, LaShundra Finley of Gulfport, MS; seven grandchildren, Canesia (Donte) Bryant and Kacie McNair of Tampa, FL, Francesca (Eric) Valentine of D'Iberville, MS, Ferrion Nicholson and Mashawn Nicholson of Gautier, MS, and Javon McNair of Atlanta, GA and Lakiva Washington of Biloxi, MS; six great-grandchildren, Kaiden Valentine of D'Iberville, MS, Keyonni Bryant and Alivia Bryant of Tampa, FL, Nasir Fritz, Niylah Bradley, and Na'Shawn Washington of Biloxi, MS; three godchildren, Erika Fairley of Memphis, TN, Zinzi McEachin and Curtis Jamison of Atlanta, GA; four devoted sisters, Pearlie Barnes of Seminary, MS, Betty Anderson and Jewel Booth of Hattiesburg, MS, and Ruby Gibbs of Tampa, FL; four aunts, Willie Mac Townsend and Nina Mae Booth of Collins, MS, Arvell Wolfe and Mary Booth of Seminary, MS; brothers-in-law, Leo (Odell) Johnson of Collins, MS, Edward (Earlene) Johnson of Olivette, MO, Rev.
