Nora Robertson Alexander Simmons; name seen as Lenora on older census documents, but most records available simply indicate her name as Nora. Her grave marker also has Nora.

Daughter of Benjamin Frank & Dorcas Jane Bowen Robertson.

Her first husband was Lawrence Orr Alexander, with whom she had all her children. He died in 1901.

Her second husband was Jacob Anthony Simmons, to whom she was married before 1910. His first wife was Mary A. Owens Simmons, who died in 1906 and who was the mother of all his children.

Jacob Anthony Simmons and Nora Robertson Alexander Simmons had no known children together. He died in 1940 and she died in 1944.

Her obituary stated she was a native and lifelong resident of Pickens County and a member of a well known family in the community. She had lived in Easley for the previous 44 years (since about the time of the death of her first husband) and was a faithful member of the Easley Mill Wesleyan Methodist Church; while there she was a member of the Women's Missionary Society and the Ladies Bible and Ladies Sunday School classes.

Mrs. Simmons passed away at the home of one of her daughters, Mrs. W.A. Pearson, at 413 West Fourth Avenue in Easley, due to failing health after breaking her hip over a year earlier.

She was survived by four daughters, Mrs. J.A. (Darcas) Hughes, Mrs. Perry (Viola) Parker, Mrs. J.B. (Callie) Gaines, and Mrs. W.A. (Dora) Pearson; one son, Franklin Eugene Alexander; seven stepchildren, W.A. (Bill) Simmons, G.O. (Bub) Simmons, R.E. (Robert) Simmons, Mrs. Delia Smith, Mrs. Carl (Nan) Ledford, Mrs. Frank (Lillie) Christopher, and Mrs. Jude (Inez) Notgrass; 37 grandchildren, 93 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, T.B. Robertson, Frank Robertson, and Bob Robertson; and two sisters, Mrs. Annie Alexander and Mrs. Jane Lay.

Funeral services: Thursday, March 23, 1944, Easley Mill Wesleyan Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. C.H. Mickle and Rev. R.C. Kendrick.

Burial: Zion Church Cemetery in the family plot.

Pallbearers: Frank Mullinix, W.A. Brown, Wade Benjamin, Robinson Brown, Ernest Hester and Luther Nalley.
