Harold Eugene "Doc" Underhill, 78, of Brookston, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2013 at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello. Born April 18, 1935 in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Harold and Florence (Baumgardt) Underhill. He honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corp from April 23, 1952 to April 22, 1956 during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
"Doc" married Merry F. Cornell on September 17, 1960 in Lafayette and she survives. He was a plumber and a union member of Local # 157 for 45 years, retiring in 1998. He was a lifetime member of the 40 & 8, American Legion Post # 492, and VFW Post # 1154. He enjoyed watching Purdue sports, fishing and hunting.
Surviving with his wife are his three sons, Tony Underhill (wife, Cindy) of Leesburgh, VA, Kevin Underhill (wife, Tammy) of Colburn, and Kenny Underhill of Lafayette. Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Brianna, Dylan, Morgan, and Chandler Underhill. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Underhill.
