Charles A. Libbey, 77, of Highland Park, Ill., formerly of Oshkosh, died Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Hilltop Farms Nursing Home, Libertyville, Ill., where he had been a patient for the past three days.
A former member of Oshkosh Elks, he had resided with his two daughters, Miss Eleanor and Miss Harriet Libbey, of Highland Park, since 1951.
Mr. Libby was born in Oshkosh, Feb. 9, 1875, son of the late Daniel and Laura Libbey. He was married in 1900, to Miss Dorothy Ely, in Oshkosh. She died in 1944.
A graduate of Oshkosh State College, he was also graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1897. Mr. Libbey established the Libbey Insurance Agency here in 1928, and continued active in the operation of that business until July, 1951, when he moved to Highland Park.
Survivors are his two daughters, the Misses Eleanor and Harriet Libbey of Highland Park. Christian Science services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Mallery & Seefeld Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Riverside cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday evening and until the time of services.
