CARL EDWARD DECKLAR was born on May 12, 1922 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Mary (Livingston) Decklar. He was raised in Rockford Ill. and Manchester, Iowa. Graduated from Manchester High in Manchester, Iowa, class of 1941. Carl was united in marriage to Dorothy May Farley on June 8, 1942 in Waterloo, Iowa. On October 23, 1942 Carl enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served as a fighter pilot with the 355th fighter group, 354th fighter squadron in England from December 1944 until December 1945. Carl returned to active duty with the newly created United States Air Force in July of 1946 and served until honorably discharged on November 30, 1963 at the rank of Major.
His hobbies included woodworking, farming/gardening, camping, rock hounding/prospecting, artistic creations and most passionately flying, restoring and building aircraft.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Dorothy on August 16, 2010.
Carl was also preceded in death by his parents, siblings and one grandchild.
Survivors include his six children and their spouses, Michael Rick Decklar, of Cornelius, Oregon; Patricia Ann Weaver, of Cornelius, Oregon; Marshall "Terry" and Marion Decklar, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Donald James and Renee Decklar, of Shelton, Washington; Mark Raymond Decklar, of Nevada City, California and Carleen Jo and Eric Baumann, of San Diego, California; as well as thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
