Born to Mr. and Mrs. James H. Cochrane. She attended Rockford High School. She married James Pence on Dec. 6, 1941, in Chicago. Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Fairfield, Ca. for 40 years. Vivan was office manager for a moving and storage company in Fairfield. She belonged to the Presbyterian church. She enjoyed planning and celebrating and holidays with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994; son James Jr. and brother, James. Among her survivors are her son Bob of Carson City; grandchildren Theresa Morris, Jay Pence and Marcus Mahan; and three great-grandchildren.
