MISS BERTHA GARLOCK
Services arrangements for Miss Bertha Garlock, 77, a retired teacher in the St. Joseph Public School system, are pending at the Heaton-Bowman Mortuary.
Miss Garlock died Monday afternoon at a St. Joseph hospital. She made her home at 1402 S. 30th St..
Born at La Plata, Missouri, Miss Garlock lived in Oklahoma from 1907 until 1932. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Home Economics and Masters of Science degree in Biological Chemistry from Oklahoma Agricultural & Mechanical College at Stillwater.
In 1932, Miss Garlock came to St. Joseph. She became a substitute teacher in the system in March, 1933, and signed up as a regular teacher in January, 1934. She first taught at Bliss Junior High School, and later was Home Economics teacher at Central High School. She retired in June, 1958.
Survivors include one brother, Harry M. Garlock of St. Joseph; and two sisters, Mrs. Helen McKee of Austin, Texas, and Mrs. Willa Nan Natta of Kansas City, Kansas.
