GREER- J. W. Nodine, 71, of Greer Route 4 died at 6:30pm Monday at a Greenville
Hospital following one year of declining health and a serious illness of one
week.
Mr. Nodine was born in North Carolina, a son of the late James and Texanna
Ponder Nodine. He had been a resident of the Greer section for 49 years, and was
a member of the Burns View Baptist Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Ella Burton Nodine; six daughters, Mrs. Conley
Taylor of Inman, Mrs. Geddis Waddell of Greer; Mrs. Belton Bennett of Woodruff
Route 1; Mrs. Morris McHugh and Miss Betty Nodine of Lyman, Mrs. James Perry
(note should be Terry) of Greer Route 4; seven sons, Amos and Grady of Woodruff,
Albert and the Rev. Malcolm P. Nodine of Greenville; Raymond of Greer Route 5,
Walter Nodine of Spartanburg and Herbert Nodine of Greenville; one sister, Mrs.
Della Hall of Caroleen, NC; four brothers, Bud Nodine of Campobello, Otis Nodine
of Lexington, NC, Howell and Nevada Nodine of Greenville; 36 grandchildren and
11 great-grand-children.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Wood Mortuary. The family will be
at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Belton Bennett, in the Cashville community
