Horst Werner Gunther, age 83, passed away May 1, 2001 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born to Richard Edmond Gunther and Ida Helen Drechsel on March 2, 1918. He married Mary Nancy Van Ry on June 7, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Ut.

Werner graduated form West High School. He was a member of the Bakers & Confectionery workers, the Army, and an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held the positions of Elder Quorum president, High Priest secretary, and Scout Leader. He enjoyed coaching and working with the youth.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Richard (Dee Ann), Robert, Randy (Joyce); ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brothers, Eric (Adeline), John (Ann) Gunther; sister, Dorothy (Howard) Harman.

Funeral services will be held Sat., May 5, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday Evening and Saturday, from 12:45-1:45 p.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
