Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville with Rev. Jim Brazzil officiating. The viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.
Chase was a graduate of New Waverly High School. His hobbies included women, cooking, music, movies and games (in that order). Chase was a member of New Waverly High School Beta Club and was named homecoming king and prom king his senior year. He was an avid fan of his Texas Longhorns and even managed to get his Aggie friends to wear Longhorn shirts.
Chase is preceded in death by grandfathers, Connie Lee Wilson and Don Barfield, Sr.; and cousin, Corey Hanchey.
Chase is survived by his mother, Stacie Barfield; fathers, Royce Wayne Belcher and Don Barfield; brother, Zachary Barfield and wife Crysta; brother, Daniel Scoggins and wife Angela; grandparents, Bob and Kathy Cox, Larry and Carolyn Reopke and Gytha Barfield; nephew, Corey Barfield, who fondly referred to Chase as "Uncle Skeeter"; and a host of aunts, uncles and friends.
Chase faced many struggles in life, and when asked how he made it through, he replied "I just look for the silver lining." Chase is our silver lining.
Chase impacted his family, and he changed an entire community. A special thanks to the Class of 2012, Kimberly Brown, Taylor Roberts, Ariel Richards and Lauren Fordyce. Also, thank you to Sharon Brown, Sharon Fordyce, Nichelle Wilkerson, Pam Wells and Dale and Teresa Bohannon, as well as the many others who touched Chase's life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a fund set up at First Victoria National Bank in New Waverly.
