Betty D. Blair, 78, of 1646 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, passed away early Sunday morning Sept. 13, 2009 in her favorite chair with her faithful companion, Buddy (a Siberian husky), at her feet.

She was the wife of the late Robert E. Blair. They were married for 40 years.

She was born on May 2, 1931 in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of Marie and Thomas O'Dwyer. She retired from Williamsport Hospital and Medical Center in 1997 after more than 25 years of service.

She loved gardening, and was a fan of opera, and figure skating. Betty had a particularly soft spot for animals.

Betty is survived by four sons, Daniel C Blair, Williamsport, Michael E. Blair, of Montoursville, Edward C. (Pamela) Blair, of Williamsport and Francis Joseph (Susanne) Blair of Rahway, N.J. She is also survived by two daughters Roberta (Mark) Updegraff, Linden and Genevieve (David) Ricker, Loyalsock; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and was looking forward to the tenth in a few months.
