Sarah Lucille Archibald
Sarah Lucille Archibald, 97 years of age and a Harborite for the past ten years, died on Monday, September 16, 2013, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington. She was born on November 13, 1915, in Brownwood, Texas to Lee and Susie Lee (Dunn) Barnhill.
In 1925, her family moved to the San Diego, California area where she resided until coming to the Grays Harbor County area of Washington State in 2003.
Growing up she helped with the chores to include taking care of the chickens and ducks.
Sarah Lucille was married to Jack Stuart Archibald on June 26, 1934, in Yuma, Arizona. He died on September 9, 1968.
While in California she was a nurse's aide in adult care facilities to include Cloisters La Jolla Nursing Home.
In her younger years she loved to go water skiing, both, single ski and barefoot skiing. Lucille had taken cruises through the Panama Canal and to Alaska. She had also traveled by travel trailer to Washington D.C. She enjoyed gardening and visiting the Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
Sarah Lucille Archibald is survived by one sister, Edna Fares of San Diego, California; four grandchildren, David A. Archibald of Puyallup, Washington, Sandra D. Archibald of Hoquiam, Washington, Melissa Smith and Yvette Archibald and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; two sons, Richard Allen Archibald and James Stuart Archibald; and a grandson, Jack Archibald.
No formal funeral service is being planned.
Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam, Washington.
