Dorothy “Dottie” Bratten, 70, passed away surrounded by her family at 12:30 PM
Saturday, December 2, 2006, at her home.
She was born March 19, 1936, in Creal Springs, the daughter of Odell and Ruby
(Thetford) Rainbolt.
Dottie was united in marriage to James Donald Bratten on March 20, 1954, in Marion. Together they shared over 50 years of marriage until his death on October 27, 2004.
Dottie was a lifelong Christian and a member of the Family Worship Center in Johnson City. She had a deep religious conviction and dedicated her life to serving the Lord, always willing to help others in need. Dottie was very supportive of and enjoyed Total Christian Television and the 700 Club.
She always kept busy caring for her family, her home and her friends.
She always found the timeto take part in family activities, and she treasured the times they shared together.
She was supportive of her family and loved following the many activities of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren always willing to help them when she could.
She cherished the memories of the good times the family shared together.
In her passing she is survived by her mother, Ruby Rainbolt of Marion;
daughter and son-n-law, Kimberly Jo and Timothy Mitchell of West
Frankfort; four sons and one daughter-n-law, Gregg Bratten of West Frankfort,
Andrew Bratten, Kris, and Sheila Bratten and Kevin Bratten, all of Tuscola; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Lou and Stanley Pasko of Niles, Kathryn Wall of Marion, Rosalyn and Ray Maragni of West Franfort, Judith Richardson of Mount Vernon and Jeannie Rainbolt of Marion; two sisters-in-law, Grace White of Marion and Patsy Dalton of Creal Springs; brother-in-law, Billie Bratten of Creal Springs; many nieces and nephews, other extended family members and many friends .
She was preceded in death by her father, husband, two sisters, Betty Mayer and Frances Rainbolt, and two brothers, David, and Jack Rainbolt.
Celebration of life services will be at 1 PM Wednesday, December 6, 2006, in the Wilson – McReynolds Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Jennings officiating.
Burial will be in the McKinney Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will
be from 11 AM to 1 PM in the funeral home.
