John was born on December 17, 1934 in Tampa, FL to parents Nettie (Stevenson) Hodges and Charles Hodges and entered into eternal rest on September 26, 2013 at the age of 78. John loved the Lord with all his heart and had a strong passion for praying. He was faithful in his study and reading of the bible. John loved ministering and singing to nursing home patients. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, traveling the world and was an avid reader. John was in the United States Air Force from 1951 – 1964 and served in the Korean War. He was a jet pilot and so enjoyed flying planes. He was a Navy recruiter for 2 years. John was in law enforcement and served as a Police Officer in Tampa, FL for 7 years. He then attended Texas Chiropratic College in Pasadena, TX and received his PHD in Philosophy Chiropractic Science. After retiring from his chiropractic service he did mission work in Mexico and Philippines for the Association of Evangelic Gospel Assemblies. John will be truly missed by all whom knew and loved him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Earl, James and Charles and sisters; Julia and Shirley.
He is survived by his loving wife Barbara of Seven Points, sons; Dr. John Hodges Jr. and wife Patricia of League City, TX, Mark McCoy of Seven Points, TX, Todd McCoy and wife Marti of Mt. Vernon, TX, daughters; Terri Rodger of League City, TX, Barbara Siems and husband Chris of Bryan, TX, sisters; Alice Shiren of Land O' Lakes, FL, Betty Everett and husband Doyle of Madison, FL, grandchildren; Steven Hodges, Sara Eveland, Vincent Lobdell, Katharine Lobdell, Jacob Lobdell, Samantha McCoy, William McCoy, Nicole Mccoy, Victoria McCoy, Taylor McCoy, Tanner McCoy, 1 great-grandchild Presley Eveland, other loving family members and many friends.
