Mrs. Delphine M. Schiesl, age 79, of 1707 Cherry Road, Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, December 30, 1997, at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 1998, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Camillus Janas O.F.M. with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The former Delphine Lallensack was born October 9, 1918, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Dirkman Lallensack. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School, graduating with the Class of 1936. On August 28, 1940, she married Herbert J. Schiesl in Manitowoc. After their marriage the couple resided in Manitowoc all their lives. Mrs. Schiesl had been employed by Park Lawn Home until 1981, when she retired. She was a member of St. Andrew Congregation, served as president of the St. Therese Society, was a Gold Star Mother, member of the Catholic Women’s Club, Manitowoc Senior Center for which she performed many volunteer services.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert J. Schiesl, Manitowoc; four daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Gerald Schmidt, Two Rivers; Marie and Sheldon Hynek, Manitowoc, Carol and Dale Holly, Shoto, Sharon and Fred Jehle, Manitowoc; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Carol Schiesl, West Bend, Eugene and Linda Schiesl, Appleton; 18 grandchildren, Lori (Stephen) Krumberger, Joseph Mellberg, Jeffrey (Debbie) Schmidt, Michael Hynek, Chris (Gina) Hynek, Lisa ( Michael) Willman, Jeannie (Ron) Mrotek, Linda (Mark) Messer, David, Donald, and Nathan Klein, Michael and Patrick Jehl, Tracy (Todd) Craig, Troy (Stacy) Schiesl, Joshua, Ian and Neil Schiesl; three great-grandchildren, Adam Krumberger, Courtney Mrotek and Collin Willman. Also surviving are five brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Lorraine Lallensack, Manitowoc, Ed and Rose Lallensack, Port Washington, Francis and Gladys Lallensack, Manitowoc, Victor and Angie Lallensack, Manitowoc, George and Lucille Lallensack, Osman; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Eleanore Schmelzle, Manitowoc, Clara and Arden Koehler, Kewaunee, Beatrice Lallensack, Manitowoc; three sisters-in-law, Frances Schiesl, Lily Zipperer, Bernadine Schiesl, all of Manitowoc. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald R. Schiesl, who was killed in action in Vietnam; seven brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law; and a granddaughter, Christine Schmidt.

Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5-7 p.m. on Friday (TONIGHT) where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. by Rev. Camillus Janas OFM. Friends may also call on Saturday morning at St. Andrew Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

A mother holds her children’s hands for a while. Their hearts forever.
