McLAUGHLIN, MILTON SOMERS - passed away at home Tuesday September 24, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Mac was born at home, on November 12, 1929 in Atlantic City. He also lived in Northfield and Egg Harbor City before moving to Absecon. Mac was predeceased by his parents, James and Anna, his brothers William, James (Bud), and his twin, Edward. He was also predeceased by his beloved first wife, Shirley (nee Vaughn) and his daughter-in-law, Lynne Rowland Bartlett. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kathleen (nee Duffy), his sons Michael V. and Jay V. (Beth). He is also survived by the Lights of Life, his grandchildren Megan Baker (Andrew), Kelly, Lindsay, and Sean. Mac is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Patricia, his sisters-in-law Ann, Norah, Alice Jean Wolcott (Hap), and Theresa Daley, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was a proud Eagle Scout who hiked most of the Appalachian Trail in his early teen years. He worked summers as a Life Guard/Canoeing instructor at Camp Edge. He started work as a lineman in NJ Bell and retired as a Service Manager to the Casinos after 30 years with Verizon. Mac was a member of Keystone Lodge No.153 F. & A.M. in Linwood and served as Master in 1965. Mac spent 12 years in the military reserves including 1 year active service. He started in the NJ National Guard 157th Field Artillery Bn. and finished his service in the 119th Tactical Fighter Squadron NJ Air National Guard. An avid sportsman, he fished, skied, sailed, golfed, travelled and thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years. Mac played on the Old Man's Hockey League well into his 70's, but his best times were spent indulging his grandchildren. He was, in his grandchildren's view, "the World's Best Pop-Pop". In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Holy Redeemer Hospice, 6550 Delilah Road Suite 501, Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234 or the charity of your choice. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 28th at Wimberg Funeral Home 211 E. Great Creek Rd, Galloway, NJ (609) 641-0001. Visitation from 11am to 1pm with a memorial service beginning at 1pm.
