He was born April 21, 1900 in Lacon, Ill., and had lived in Capac for 50 years.
He married Hazel Arledge, Feb. 7, 1920, in Chicago.
He was a member of the Albert A. Glassford, Post No. 142, American Legion; The Forest, F&AM, No. 126, and of First United Methodist Church, Capac. He served in the U.S. Army in World War I. He was a charter member of the Eastern Vegetable Association.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Richard Eldridge, Capac, and Bernard Eldridge, Port Huron. Another son, George, died Nov. 19, 1939; two daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Giroux, Capac, and Mrs. Lillias Hamilton, Almont; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Fern Barnett, Project City, Calif., Mrs. Ona Ritchey, Momouth, Ill. and Mrs. Illen German, Galesburg, Ill.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Barnard Funeral Home, Capac. The Rev. Ray Burkett, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be Capac Cemetery.
