JANUARY 4, 1929 - SEPTEMBER 25, 2013
Elroy A. Mehlberg, age 84 of the Town of Pella, Shawano County, passed away Wednesday evening, September 25, 2013 at Pine Manor Health Care Center in Embarrass.
Elroy was born on January 4, 1929 in the Town of Grant, Shawano County as the son of the late Fred and Anna (Schuettpelz) Mehlberg. He was confirmed in 1942 at Immanuel Lutheran Church also in the Town of Grant. At age seven he moved to the Town of Pella with his family after their barn burned. Elroy graduated from Marion High School in 1946 and at an early age took over his family's farm after his father's death. He was united in marriage to Elaine Ebert on June 7, 1952 at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville. Elroy continued farming the homestead until retirement in 1984 when he sold it to his son Tim. He was also a sales representative for DeKalb Seeds for many years and served as the Pella Town Chairman and Supervisor. Elroy was a current member of Zion Lutheran Church in Caroline. He enjoyed being active in his church including: men's group, ushering, dartball, and served on the church council for both Zion and Immanuel over the years. He was a long time member and past secretary/treasurer of the Caroline Lions Club and was especially proud to see the Colorama grow in popularity. Elroy and Elaine enjoyed traveling and vacationing together along with family. Elroy was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed tinkering with projects in his spare time. He knew the value of hard work, family, having a relationship with God, and will be missed very much.
Elroy was preceded in death by his parents, a son Joel, a great-granddaughter Jalyn Krueger, 5 brothers, and 5 sisters.
