Charles Vinton Bond, 86, died April 20, 2000 at his rural home South of Plains, Ks.

He was born February 27, 1914 in Pratt County, Kansas, the son of William H. and Carrie F. King Bond. He was a farmer. He moved to Plains area in 1919 with his parents and then to Jewell County in 1946, returning to rural Plains in 1959.

He was a member of the Friends Church of Plains.

On December 16, 1938 he married Lena Schell at Antiock, Ks. She died August 19, 1988.

His surviving relatives are: 8 sons - Dean Bond, Benny Bond and Edward Bond all of Plains, LeRoy Bond, James Bond and John Bond all of Liberal, Larry Bond of Garden City and Carl Ray Bond of Gerard, Ks; 4 daughters - Lena Faye Henderson, Karliss Cox and Eldeana Winfrey all of Plains and Melba VanOsdol of Dodge City. 2 sisters - Elma Seawright of Guymon, Ok. and DeEtta Ferguson of Liberal; 45 Grandchildren and 66 Great-Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin, Carl and Oscar and 2 sisters, Irene Frederich and Pearl McVey.

Funeral services was at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 24, at the Plains Friends Church with Pastors Dan Biernacki and Randy Littlefield presiding. Burial was in the Plains Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Plains Friends Church Children's Department.
