Charlotte Elizabeth (Betty) Hirzy, daughter of Theodore Laverne Sr. (Jerry) and Ethel (Runquist) Clapper was born December 16, 1932 in Memphis, Missouri and departed this life March 26, 2009 in her home near Kimberling City, Missouri at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 10 days.

Betty grew up in Van Buren County Iowa. Married Alan Diehl in Keosauqua, Iowa, September 22, 1950. She was married to Alan for 24 years. They had three children Cheryl, Jeffrey, and Mark. They lived In Fairfield Iowa, Morrison Illinois, and Sedalia Missouri. Betty divorced in 1974. Betty went to work outside the home when she went to work for a Fabric Shop in Clinton Iowa. While Betty resided in Sedalia she worked at Hobson Carpet as a Custom Draperies Designer and seamstresses. Also while in Sedalia is was member of Eastern Star, Beta Segma, Cosmopiliton, as well as other social groups.

She married Raymond Hirzy in Sedalia, Missouri June 1974. They left later moved from Sedalia for Springfield, Missouri. Later they moved to Olathe Kansas. During their time in Olathe Betty was employed by the offices of ReMax inOverland Park, Kansas. Raymond was employed as sales rep for several companies. In 1995 they moved to Kimberling City, Mo.

They bought a laundry/dry business in Branson West which was called Clean Jeans Laundry and Dry Cleaning. Betty also provided seamstress services and many different Craft items. Her hands were always busy. She also took good care of the firefighters from the Southern Stone County Fire Station by cleaning their turnout gear after a fire. She also sewed their patches and other repairs. The station honored both Betty and Ray by dedicating their fire prevention mobile learning lab in memory.

Betty was also busy in the community as a member of the Chamber of Commerce and other organizations.

Betty was survived by her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Diehl of Kansas City, Missouri and her son, Dr. Jeffrey Carl Diehl ( Polly) of Aurora, Missouri. She was preceded in death of Mark Alan who was killed from a motorcycle accident.

Her grandchildren include Mark Jonathan Seele, Ryan Nicholaus Diehl(Cheryl), Sarah Haddasha Diehl Brown, Jessica Elaine Diehl, Emma Diehl (Jeffrey), Jaime Lynn Diehl, (Mark). Also step grandchildren Malina and Briana Freeze. Also great grandmother to great grandchildren.

Betty preceded her three siblings in
death-Jeannette Clapper Smith, Theodore Laverne Clapper Jr., and Donna Elaine Clappet Bruggaman.

The cause of death was due to a house fire that happened in the early morning of March 26, 1998. Both Betty , Ray and their precious little precious Yorkie., Ruby perished in the house fire. All three are buried together.

A memorial service was held at the Lutheran Church in Kimberling City, Missouri Pastor Richard Futrell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund was established at Table Rock Community Bank. All donations will be given to the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District. Funds may be given at Table Rock Community Bank, Lakeshore Drive and Highway 13, Kimberling City, MO.
