Reno police have identified the teen who died after a fight outside a fast food restaurant early Sunday morning.
Police say 17-year-old Moises Betancourt of Reno died after police were called to reports of a large fight at a Jack in the Box parking lot on South McCarran Boulevard just before 1:15am.
When police arrived, a large group fled the scene in several different vehicles. Investigators eventually learned that the fight involved several people, and that Betancourt had been stabbed in the chest and taken to Renown by his friends.
"We've identified both groups, identified the guy who did the stabbing," said Latin. Mohammad Rafaqat of the Reno Police Department. "That person was cooperative during the preliminary part of investigation. No arrests have been made at this point. We are continuing our investigation. What we sorely need are some independent witnesses."
